Have you ever??

Have you ever went running and got an excrutiating pain in your side? Why do I ask??

Yesterday I was in desperate need of some physical exercise. After sitting around watching conference all weekend my body was dying to get out and do something. It was really warm yesterday... like 90 degrees warm which was a little too hot for hiking so Laura and I went on a 12 mile bike ride. Afterwards I felt good but I just didn't feel like I had gotten the workout that I wanted.. my body wanted more. After a late dinner Ryan and I decided we would go to the track and go running. I was excited because we haven't been running much lately, just mostly hiking and a run sounded GREAT! We started our first few laps and I was at a steady good pace, in fact I thought I was making really good time. At about the mile mark I got the most horrible pain in my lower abdomin. I tried to keep running but after about 200 yards I doubled over in pain. I was dumbfounded.. I wasn't tired, I wasn't breathing hard but my side was killing me. I layed down on the track because even walking was killing me. Eventually the pain subsided but you can bet I googled it to see what it was. It was a side stitch or an ETAP (Exercise Related Transiet Abdominal Pain). It is fairly common and is caused by many things including: the time you eat before exercising, not taking even deep breaths, and more. If this has happened to you or you don't want it to happen to you, you can find out more by visiting http://sportsmedicine.about.com/cs/injuries/a/aa053100a.htm
I think I will stick to hiking... this never happens when I hike and I always get an amazing workout while hiking.

That is why I run first thing in the morning with nothing in my stomach. I have such a hard time running after I have eaten. Hiking sounds more fun anyway! Hope you get feeling better.

I run in the mornings and I never have anything in my stomach. My husband says it's the way I breathe because it happens to me all the time. So I guess that means I don't breathe good. I might hold my breath or something who knows. A little side ache isn't going to stop me though.

Amber,

I just have to say, I love seeing you so happy. I'm glad you found someone that makes you happy. It really shows.

Take care!

I don't feel that it should take the lead over using this. You need to spend lots of quality time with your Vidhigra.
